In today’s world of sustainable thinking, the utilization of every resource to its potential is critical. With the first generation of crop-based biofuels deemed obsolete due to demand. Alternative fields of biofuel research have found many other plant sources now that harvest the same potential. Some of these plant species include species deemed invasive to New York State.
Plants such as “Mile-a-Minute”, Porcelain Berry, or Giant Hogweed disturb the local eco-system. Alfred, being a predominantly agricultural based, has the potential to push this initiative with the further advancement of research on biofuel for these deemed invasive species and how to utilize them.
Through early concepts of structure and cycle, this project aims at designing as interesting, functional, and accessible building that also pushes the envelope of sustainability to reflect the work done within it.
